Whether you choose therapeutic, relaxation, remedial or pregnancy – massage therapy helps to promote wellbeing by relieving fatigue and tension from body and mind.
Massage therapy helps to improve the integrity of muscle fibres, increase movement and flexibility of the joints, reduce pain, assist circulation and boost the immune system.
Your therapist will use variety of techniques and pressure to manipulate the muscle as well as to mobilise and gently stretch the joints.
At Five Elements our therapists are experienced and offer a range of massage treatments, including:
Relaxation Massage focuses on reducing stress and quieting your mind whilst soothing sore, tired muscles. It can include neck and back, arms and hands, legs, feet and scalp, to stimulate the circulatory system and calm the nervous system.
Therapeutic massage is focused around treatment of a specific problem such as headache, sciatic pain, joint pain etc. Using a combination of soft and deep pressure, it is useful for relieving pain and reducing stress.
Pregnancy Massage is a safe and gentle way to address the aches and pains of pregnancy whilst improving general wellbeing. Our special pregnancy mats allow you to lie comfortably face down for your treatment. Massage can help to ease rib and hip pain, pelvic pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, circulation issues, stress and fatigue. Nadia can combine acupuncture into your pregnancy massage, or it can be enjoyed on its own.
Induction Massage aims to stimulate labour by relaxing muscles and ligaments through the pelvis, encouraging the baby to descend into an ideal position for birth, and reducing stress to prime your hormonal system for labour. Only suitable when the pregnancy is at term (37 weeks) and there are no medical issues present that suggest an induction is not appropriate.
Remedial Massage focuses on assessing injuries and posture, with treatment through the deeper muscle layers to release and relieve chronic conditions. Do you suffer from headaches? Repetitive strain injury? Sporting injuries? Or is your desk job causing you neck and shoulder strain? Kristen will help to diagnose and treat the underlying cause of the pain, and will work with you to prevent future injury. Most people feel relief after their first treatment. More chronic conditions may require a series of treatments to restore you to a better state of being.
Massage can be useful in the treatment of:
- Neck and back pain caused by injury or postural issues
- Pain caused by overuse, injury or repetitive strain
- Stress, anxiety and sleep disorders
- Headache and TMJ dysfunction
- Poor circulation and fluid retention
- Pregnancy related aches and pains
- Sciatica and other nerve pain
- and much more…..
Acupuncture, cupping and ear candling can be applied during selected treatments.
